MOSCOW, December 23 (Sputnik) — Landslides and floods have claimed the lives of three people and displaced another 60,000 in Sri Lanka, according to RIA Novosti.
The northern and eastern provinces of the country were hit by torrential rains three days ago. The local Disaster Management Center reports that about 2,000 houses were destroyed and over 60,000 people have been forced to relocate to safer regions.
It was reported earlier that the Batticaloa and Anuradhapura districts were the most heavily affected by the raging weather.
