MOSCOW, December 25 (Sputnik) — Russia's United Instrument Corporation (UIC) has developed "The Web", a hardware and software system designed to protect important state establishments from hacking attacks, UIC CEO Alexander Yakunin told RIA Novosti.
"'The Web' hardware and software complex designed by request of the Defense Ministry is one of the largest UIC projects of this year. The complex is capable of revealing hacking attacks in real time. Special sensors analyze traffic, while the system displays the state of the protected devices, the grade of the attack, and its objects and subjects," Yakunin said.

The new system is designed to protect sensitive government networks from external interference, according to Yakunin.
Two weeks ago, a leading computer security software company, McAfee Labs, issued its year end report warning that cyberattacks and online espionage are likely to surge in 2015. According to the report, 2014 has seen hackers not only industrial control systems, but also private devices such as webcams with weak security.
