MOSCOW, December 29 (Sputnik) – Five people died, survivors have been evacuated from the Norman Atlantic ferry that caught fire on Sunday morning while en route from Greece to Italy, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said Monday.
“Only the crew remains on board the ferry, all the 407 Norman Atlantic passengers have been rescued,” the minister said.
The Italian-flagged Norman Atlantic ferry, traveling from Greece to Italy, caught fire Sunday morning. According to the rescue officials, the fire started in the ship's garage area. When the fire erupted there were about 470 total on board, most of them citizens of Greece.
According to most recent reports, five people have been reported as killed.
