MOSCOW, December 30 (Sputnik) — All 27 Russian tourists involved in a road accident on the Thai island of Phuket on Tuesday morning have been released from hospital after receiving medical assistance, Russia's RIA Novosti reports.
Phensi Chaysabat, the head nurse at Patong Hospital, told the news agency that "among the Russian tourists who were brought to us in the morning from the scene of the accident, none had serious injuries. For the most part it was cuts from glass and bruises from the impact."
A total of 27 tourists and two Thai nationals were on the bus when it flipped over after colliding with a sedan which had attempted an overtaking maneuver on a hilly coastal road. 25 of the bus's passengers were reported to have received slight injuries, and several were temporarily trapped in the vehicle until emergency workers arrived. Four of the tourists were minors, including a 10-year-old boy.
Ms. Chaysabat noted that two of the three Thai nationals in the sedan have been hospitalized with more serious injuries.
The tour bus had been carrying the tourists from the Phuket International Airport to their holiday accommodations, Thailand's Phuket Wan explained. The newspaper noted that Phuket's hilly roads regularly test the skills of drivers, and that the Thai government had only recently instituted a Seven Days of Danger road safety campaign throughout Thailand.
