MOSCOW, Lieutenant Colonel Marek Obrtel, a former military doctor and ex-chief of the 11th Czech military hospital in Afghanistan, has petitioned Czech Republic Defense Minister Martin Stropnicky to strip him of the medals he received for participating in NATO-led peacekeeping operations, The Prague Post reports.
Orbtel, who took part in missions to Afghanistan, Kosovo and Bosnia, has stated that NATO is a criminal organization and that its actions around the world represent "the highest level of perversion and intoxication with power, but first of all conflicts that are expediently fabricated," the newspaper adds.

According to InSerbia News, Obrtel accused the US of attempting to provoke a world war with Russia “because of incoming economic collapse” which threatens the chief sponsor of NATO activity. He also praised the leaders of the Czech Republic and Russia, stating that "in the new Cold War I stand on the side of President Putin."
RT reports that the Defense Ministry of the Czech Republic replied to Obrtel that there are no legal grounds to strip him of his awards, but he can simply return them.
