MOSCOW, January 3 (Sputnik) — Some of the bodies recovered from the AirAsia flight QZ8501, that crashed in the Java Sea on its way from Surabaya to Singapore last Sunday, will be autopsied as part of an ongoing investigation into the accident, experts and police said Saturday, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua.
“Some of them [the bodies] will be autopsied to find out the cause of the accident,” said head of the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) center Budiono, cited by the Chinese news agency.
“We will conduct autopsy at least on bodies of the pilot, co-pilot and examples of passengers”, he added.
It is reported that one body has already been autopsied, but details have yet to be revealed, Xinhua said.
AirAsia's Airbus A320-200, carrying 155 passengers and seven crew members, vanished off radars some 40 minutes after takeoff on December 28 and crashed into the Java Sea. The black boxes from the plane are yet to be found.
According to the local media, 30 bodies of the crash victims have been recovered so far.
