MOSCOW, January 5 (Sputnik) – In 2014, Ukraine imported 5,1 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe, an almost 60-percent increase compared to 2013, Ukraine’s gas transmission company Ukrtransgas said Monday.
“In 2014, 5,1 billion cubic meters of gas were imported from Europe, which is 59 percent, or 3 billion cubic meters higher than in the previous year,” the company’s statement said.
According to the company, 3,6 billion cubic meters came from Slovakia, while Poland and Hungary delivered 0.9 and 0.6 billion cubic meters, respectively.
Until December 2014, Ukraine received gas in reverse flow from a number of neighboring European countries, after Moscow halted gas supplies to Ukraine in June 2014 over Kiev’s large debt.
