“The court hearing took place on January 3. During the hearing, the court made a decision to release him under personal commitments,” the court ruled as quoted by the newspaper.
Last Thursday, two Russian LifeNews TV channel journalists were attacked while covering the rally in Kiev where some 2,000 people marched through the streets carrying torches to mark the birthday of Ukrainian nationalist Bandera. The attackers pushed the journalist, took her phone and broke the cameraman’s equipment.
The case was not the first incident of an assault on LifeNews reporters in Ukraine.
In November 2014, the reporter Yevgeniya Zmanovskaya was attacked in Kiev while covering events as local football fans attempted to cut short a concert given by a Ukrainian singer. Zmanovskaya was surrounded by an aggressive crowd, then pelted with eggs and sprayed in the face with an unknown substance.
