BALI, January 6 (Sputnik) – Japanese and Malaysian search teams have recovered two bodies from the Java Sea on the tenth day of search operations for AirAsia's flight QZ8501, the Indonesian news website Detik reported Tuesday.
"Two bodies have been found: one by the KD Kasturi ship [the Royal Malaysian Navy's vessel], another by the Japanese [destroyer] JS Onami," National Search and Rescue Agency director SB Supriyadi was quoted as saying by Detik.
The recovery of the two bodies brings the total up to 39, the news outlet reported.
Earlier in the day, Lt. Col. Jhonson Simatupang of the Indonesian Air Force said that the search area for the wreckage of AirAsia flight QZ8501 was being expanded again.
A multinational team of specialists, including 70 Russian rescuers, is currently taking part in search operations for the wreckage and remaining bodies. AirAsia's Airbus A320-200, carrying 155 passengers and seven crew members, crashed into the Java Sea on December 28.
