"This morning, the [US] Vice President is hosting the Mexican government for the second meeting of the US-Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED)," the release said.
The HLED is an intergovernmental platform launched in September 2013 that is set to foster economic growth and innovation, improve competitiveness, and create jobs in the United States and Mexico.
"At the January 2015 meeting, for the first time, our governments agreed to add energy and climate cooperation to the HLED work-plan," the White House said.
"HLED will also help advance our efforts to conclude the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement," the press release said.
TPP is a trade and investment agreement that includes 12 Asia-Pacific countries, intended to "further deepen regional economic relations and boost economic growth, development, prosperity, and job creation in both countries," according to the release.
"2015 promises to be another successful year for the HLED. With the HLED, we prosper together," the White House concluded.
Since 2013, the HLED has achieved cutting wait times at the US-Mexican border, improving telecommunications, easing trade, strengthening educational bonds and business cooperation between Washington and Mexico City.
