"The E3/EU+3 [more commonly known as P5+1] and Iran will continue negotiations in Geneva on 18 January with a view to making further progress towards a long-term comprehensive solution on the nuclear issue," the press release said.
The forthcoming round of negotiations is said to be held at the level of political directors, with EU Political Director Helga Schmid chairing the meeting.
The P5+1 group, comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Germany, have held several rounds of talks with Tehran in an attempt to ensure the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program.
In exchange, the P5+1 members said sanctions imposed on Iran would be lifted. The parties have managed to reach an interim agreement on the nuclear issue so far.
During the November 2014 talks in Vienna, the negotiators failed to reach a long-term agreement, extending the deadline until July 1, 2015.
