UNITED NATIONS, January 8 (Sputnik) — The UN Security Council unanimously agreed to a statement condemning the Wednesday car bomb attack in Yemen's capital of Sanaa and calling for financiers and sponsors of terrorism to be brought to justice.
The members of the Security Council stressed the need “to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice,” urging all states to cooperate with Yemeni officials in this regard.
At least 50 people have been killed and dozens injured in an explosion outside a police college in Sanaa on Wednesday morning. It was reported that a car bomb went off when numerous applicants gathered in front of the college.
Late on Wednesday the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General said Ban Ki-Moon condemns the Sanaa attack “in the strongest terms.”
