PARIS, January 8 (Sputnik) – The latest issue of the French Charlie Hebdo magazine is currently for sale online, with a requested price of as much as 100,000 euros (almost $120,000).
The usual price of a Charlie Hebdo issue used to be about 3-4 euros, but after the deadly attack on the magazine’s office in Paris on Wednesday the latest issue went on sale on eBay for astronomical prices.
Some copies are being auctioned with a starting bid of 50,000 euros.
Charlie Hebdo is a Paris-based satiric magazine known for its lampooning caricatures, including those of the Prophet Muhammad. The magazine’s office was allegedly attacked by Islamic extremists on Wednesday, with 12 people, including the editor-in-chief, killed.
The latest edition of the magazine features the renowned French writer Michel Houellebecq and his new novel depicting France under Islamic rule.
Seven suspects have been arrested so far, with a nationwide manhunt for two gunmen still underway. One of the suspects earlier handed himself over to the police, claiming he has an alibi.
