UFA, January 10 (Sputnik) — Russian Muslims have reacted to the Wednesday's attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical newspaper's office in Paris with pain and indignation, Central Muslim Spiritual Board of Russia stated.
"Russian Muslims mourn deeply with the French people for the innocent victims… once again exposing the true face of terrorism, which has no relation to such concepts as homeland, nationality, religion. The national mourning announced in France is also a mourning for the Russian Muslims," the organization said in a statement.
The attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine, known for its cartoons mocking religion and in particular Islam, took place on January 7. Two gunmen killed 12 people, mostly the magazine's journalists.
After two days of manhunt, the two gunmen, identified as brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi, were killed by French police during a raid on a print shop in an industrial zone northeast of Paris, where the alleged perpetrators holed up with a hostage.
