UNITED NATIONS, January 11 (Sputnik) — During his current visit to India, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, and praised him for improving socio-economic well-being of all Indian people.
Earlier on Sunday, at the Vibrant Gujurat summit Ban also commended Modi’s initiative to increase share of solar and wind power in India’s energy mix.
UN Secretary General also spoke about India’s contribution to the work of the UN, thanking the country for its humanitarian efforts and participation in peacekeeping operations.

During the meeting, Modi and Ban Ki-moon discussed the need for urgent action of climate change and the most acute regional issues.
Following his visit to India, Ban Ki-moon will travel to Honduras and El Salvador.
