MOSCOW, January 12 (Sputnik) - A member of the ‘Anonymous’ hacking network twitted that the group managed to successfully shut down ansar-alhaqq.net, a French website containing jihadi messages, the Telegraph reported on Monday.
The step was a part of the group’s activities advocating freedom of speech as well as its antiterrorism campaign.

“You allowed yourself to kill innocent people. We will therefore avenge their deaths,” said an unidentified man wearing a mask in the video, recently posted online. The man warned of closing all terrorist accounts in social networks to stop the spread of radical ideology and tracking down terrorist activities in Internet.
The video and twitter post came a few days after the notorious terrorist attack on the magazine Charlie Hebdo, during which 12 people were killed and 11 injured.
The international network of hackers ‘Anonymous’ is well-known for carrying out a number of cyber attacks on governmental and religious websites. Its recent targets included Visa and Master Card Corporations and governmental websites in the US and Israel. The network backs up the Hong Kong Occupy Movement and WikiLeaks.
