Indonesian rescue workers have lifted up the second black box from the AirAsia plane wreckage in the Java sea and has already delivered it to investigators of the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) on the Banda Aceh ship.

MOSCOW, January 13 (Sputnik) – Indonesian rescue workers have lifted up the second black box from the AirAsia plane wreckage in the Java sea, MetroTV reported Tuesday.

The news agency cites an Indonesian transport ministry official, Tonny Budiono, as saying that a team of divers from the Jadayat ship has found the cockpit voice recorder and has already delivered it to investigators of the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) on the Banda Aceh ship.

The first black box (flight data recorder) from the AirAsia plane was found in the Java Sea on Monday, under a part of the aircraft's wing, and has also been sent to NTSC investigators.

According to NTSC, it could take up to two weeks to retrieve information from the two black boxes, depending on their condition.

The Malaysia-based AirAsia flight QZ8501 was en route to Singapore from the Indonesian city of Surabaya when it lost contact with air traffic control an hour into its flight on December 28. Its wreckage was later found in the Java Sea.

The plane was carrying seven crew members and 155 passengers, mostly Indonesians. The bodies of 48 of the people have been recovered so far, with 32 of them having been identified.
