MOSCOW, January 13 (Sputnik) — US Senator Ted Cruz told Fox News on Tuesday he was "very seriously" considering running for president of the United States in 2016.
"It's certainly something I'm looking at very seriously," Cruz said.
The senator said that currently the United States was facing great challenges, since the country's economy under US President Barack Obama was "not working," Obamacare being a "disaster," and constitutional rights being "assaulted" from Washington.
"The way Republicans win is we paint in bold colors, not pale pastels. Pale pastels is a path to losing," the senator said, referencing Ronald Reagan's quote.
The 2016 presidential election will become the 58th presidential election. It will take place on November 8, 2016, with some 250 million voters from 50 states casting their ballot to elect the 45th US president.
