The latest issue of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, which provoked a deadly terror attack on the magazine's editorial office in Paris, is changing hands on eBay for astronomical prices.

PARIS, January 15 (Sputnik) — The price for the latest issue of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo being sold on the online auction site eBay has reached $15,000 per copy on Thursday.

The starting bid, offered by an eBay user, is $5,000. However, for customers, ready to buy the edition at a fixed price, the cost is $15,000.

"I have visited Paris today – specially to buy scandal issue (2015/Jan/14) of Charlie Hebdo magazine, directly in editor's office (Le Monde). I will send it to the first buyer, who will prove, that he is real collector, who understand, that now we, Earth humans, observe. now [how] created history…," the seller said in a post.

On Wednesday, the latest issue of Charlie Hebdo was released following last week's terror attack on magazine's editorial office in Paris.

The cover of the edition depicts the Prophet Muhammad holding a placard saying "Je suis Charlie ("I am Charlie" in French)," a slogan widely used to express solidarity with the French weekly. The demand for the latest issue of the satirical weekly is so high that the edition is rapidly selling out both at newsstands in France and at online auctions.

On January 7, Islamist gunmen burst into Charlie Hebdo's headquarters in Paris and opened fire, killing 12 people and injuring 11 others.
