"We do not have any hopes for this election, as past experience says that political parties' programs will remain the same regardless of who wins," the ambassador said.
According to him, Israel's policies can only change with pressure from the international community.
Elections in Israel are to take place on March 17. In December, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disbanded parliament and organized a snap general election after failing to settle disputes inside the ruling coalition. He fired his ministers of finance and justice after they criticized his government and its policies.
In July 2014, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated as Israel launched an operation in Gaza targeting Palestinian Islamic organization Hamas. According to the United Nations, over 2,000 Palestinians and 71 Israelis were killed during the operation.
