MEXICO CITY, January 17 (Sputnik) – A member of the Guerreros Unidos gang has been arrested by Mexican authorities who say Felipe Rodriguez was the one who ordered to burn the bodies and clothes of 43 students who had disappeared in Guerrero state.
"Felipe Rodriguez — known as 'El Cepillo', or 'The Brush' — was arrested on Thursday night in the city of Jiutepec, some 90km (55 miles) south of Mexico City," BBC reported Friday.
The remains of only one of the students, Alexander Mora Venancio, have been identified so far.
The students were abducted on September 26, after they participated in a protest against discriminatory hiring and funding practices in the city of Iguala.
Protests have been ongoing in Mexico since the disappearance of the students, blamed on local authorities.
