TOKYO, January 17 (Sputnik) — Former Japanese Red Army member, Tsutomu Shirosaki, convicted of a mortar attack on the US Embassy in Jakarta and released after almost 20 years in jail for good behavior, now expects deportation from the United States, Kyodo news agency reported.
According to the US authorities, sixty-seven year old Shironaki fired two mortal shells at the US Embassy back in 1986. Ten years after the attack, he was arrested in Nepal.
According to Kyodo news agency, once Shironaki arrives in Japan, he will be arrested again on charges that he allegedly attacked the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta in 1986 as well.
The Japanese Red Army was a communist militant group founded in 1971, whose goal was to overthrow the Japanese government and the monarchy. The group was allegedly disbanded in 2001, following its leader Fusako Shigenobu’s arrest. However, Japanese authorities believe that the group continues to operate.
