France's Freedom of Speech Challenged In Wake of Charlie Hebdo Attacks
MOSCOW, January 17 (Sputnik) – The circulation of the new issue of Charlie Hebdo has been increased to seven million copies, AFP reported, citing the French satirical weekly's editor's office.

The frenzy surrounding the issue that was released this Wednesday, the first after the attack on the publication's headquarters, continues for a third day. During the first two days, a whopping two million copies were sold. Long lines of people hoping to buy the magazine at newspaper kiosks have become a common site. However, people are buying it up so quickly that many end up being unable to buy the issue.

Initially, an issue of one million copies was planned. It was then increased to three and later five million. The usual circulation of the magazine is 60,000 copies, with less than half of them being sold.

According to estimates in the French media, the sales of this issue have brought the publisher over 10 million euros.

The front cover of the latest edition of the magazine depicts a cartoon of Prophet Muhammad shedding a tear and holding a sign saying "Je suis Charlie", a slogan used by the magazine's supporters to show solidarity with the victims of the Paris attack.
