Israeli army refused to comment on the reports of Tel-Aviv’s participation in the airstrikes on Lebanese Hezbollah militant group in Syria, saying that they never comment on western media reports of such kind.

TEL AVIV, January 18 (Sputnik) — Israeli army has refused to give any comments on the reports of Tel-Aviv’s participation in the airstrikes on Lebanese Hezbollah militant group in Syria.

Earlier in the day, western media, citing sources in Hezbollah, reported that an Israeli helicopter fired two missiles on Amal Farms in Quneitra, killing six members of the organization.

“We never comment on western media reports of such kind,” official representative of the Israel Defense Forces told RIA Novosti Sunday.

Along with other militants, a son of Hezbollah’ commander, Jihad Mughniyeh, died in the attack.

According to the publication in The Daily Star, Hezbollah confirmed the death of "a number of mujahedeens" in a statement, adding that their names will be released later. The news outlet added that Hezbollah's field commander Mohammad Issa, known as Abu Issa, has also been killed in the strike.

At the same time, Syrian army commanders confirmed on Sunday deaths of six people in the attack, conducted from the Israeli helicopter in the Syrian territory.

“Israeli helicopter has launched two rockets on the Amal Farms near Quneitra, without entering the Syrian airspace, while being in the sky above the occupied territory. Six people died, one child is seriously injured,” the source in the Syrian Army’s Joint Staff told RIA Novosti by phone.

Hezbollah is a Lebanon-based Shia militant group established in the 1980s. The group's primary goal was military opposition to the Israeli occupation of Lebanon. The organization has remained hostile toward Israel. The United States and several other countries have declared Hezbollah a terrorist organization.
