MOSCOW, January 19 (Sputnik) — Four people were killed and 35 injured during a suicide attack in the northeastern regions of Nigeria that took place near a busy bus station in the town of Potiskum, Reuters reported on Monday.
A suicide bomber drove an explosive laden vehicle into a bus stop, Nigerian police reported.
The security situation in Nigeria has been very fragile for the last few years, with the country being torn apart by a struggle between the government and insurgent groups, paired with widespread corruption in the political sector. Both have had a negative impact on stability and political integrity of the country and neighboring states.
Boko Haram, the Nigerian Islamist militant group probably responsible for the bus stop incident has ramped up terrorist attacks on religious and political organizations as well as civilians. The group has killed more than 5,000 people since 2009.
