"Guinea, Liberia and Sierra-Leone all reported their lowest weekly number of cases in months," Haq said at a Monday briefing.
According to Haq, the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) highlighted the fact that there were only three counties in Liberia that still reported new cases, while the other 12 had not had new Ebola cases over the past week.
"UNMEER said that this is very good progress, but cautions all involved in the fight against the virus to remain on high alert and continue the high intensity of response efforts," Haq said.
The deadly Ebola virus has so far claimed the lives of more than 8,400 people in the three West African countries, with more than 21,000 cases of the disease registered.
UNMEER said in a report last Thursday that the weekly total of new confirmed Ebola cases had declined to its lowest in recent months.
