ALMATY, January 20 (Sputnik) — Six people have died in a plane crash involving an Antonov An-2 airplane in Kazakhstan's Jambyl region, with one survivor, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs' Emergency Committee reported Tuesday.
"Three crew members and three passengers have died in a crash. One woman who survived the crash has been transported to a hospital," the emergency committee said.
Earlier, a plane owner, Kazakhmys mining company, told Novosti Kazakhstan news agency that five people have died in the incident, adding that Kazakhmys employees were on board of the plane.
The plane crashed on the way from Kazakhstan's Karaganda Region to the Kazakhmys Corporation's Shartykul mine in Jambyl region.
Security personnel from the Shartykul mine and rescue units from the Department of Emergency Situations from the Karaganda and Jambyl regions were sent to the site of the accident.
Kazakhmys is a major copper mining company located in Kazakhstan.
