The two Sudanese immigrants that swallowed razor blades are currently at the detention center's hospital, according to the newspaper. Last week two other detainees at the center did the same.
The hunger strike and other forms of protest at the detention center, located in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and run by an Australian private company, have been underway for over a week. The refugees are demanding the Australian government to give them refugee status and improve their living conditions. They were also opposing Australian government's intention to resettle them in PNG.
On Tuesday Australia's Immigration Minister Peter Dutton reaffirmed that the detainees would not be allowed into Australia regardless of their protests and self-harming activity, according to media reports.
A previous hunger strike at the Manus Island detention center dissolved into a riot in February 2014, which resulted in the death of one man, who was allegedly attacked by a local warden, a further 70 people were injured.
