Palestinian Man Stabs Nine People on Tel Aviv Bus
TEL AVIV, January 21 (Sputnik) — The bus stabbing in Tel Aviv was a result of the Palestinian Authority's "poisonous incitement", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday.

"The terrorist attack in Tel Aviv is the direct result of the poisonous incitement being disseminated by the Palestinian Authority against the Jews and their state," Netanyahu said as quoted by The Times of Israel.

Earlier on Wednesday, 12 people were wounded in a stabbing attack in a busy commuter bus in Tel Aviv. The offender was later identified by police as 23-year-old Hamza Matruk from the West Bank town of Tulkarem.

Netanyahu compared the incident with the recent terror attacks in Paris.

"This same terrorism is trying to attack us in Paris, Brussels and everywhere. It is Hamas – Abbas's partners in a unity government – that hastened to commend this attack," he said.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict dates back to the early 20th century, with the most recent outbreak taking place in July, 2014, when Israel blamed Hamas for the death of three Israeli schoolboys.

Operation Protective Edge, which Israel launched on July 7, resulted in the deaths of over 2,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians and more than 70 Israelis, according to the United Nations. On August 26, the Palestinian Authority and Israel agreed to an open-ended ceasefire. Clashes between the sides have continued despite the agreement.
