“It’s insane to release al-Qaeda operatives, based on an arbitrary passage of time,” the Republican Senator said of reports, indicating that the United States prematurely released a member of the al-Qaeda terrorist group. “To any country holding an al-Qaeda operative, now is not the time to release them.”
There is “a disconnect” between US policy and the threat of terrorist organizations on the ground, Graham stated, adding that the organizations are now having “more capacity to strike the homeland than before 9/11.”

President Obama stated in his Tuesday State of the Union speech that he had halved the prison population at Guantanamo Bay, a facility where multiple terror suspects are detained, and intended to fully shut it down in the nearest future.
