“All three medications have passed the first phase of clinical trials by now. For one of them the second phase of clinical trials has passed,” Salagai said.

Currently, analysis of the clinical trial results is being carried out, the Ministry representative noted. After the analysis is completed, the development projects on HIV effective vaccines will continue.

HIV, human immunodeficiency virus, causes AIDS, the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. HIV infection is transferred with blood and other bodily fluids.

According to the World Health Organization, 35 million of people were living with HIV and 1.5 million people died of HIV-related illnesses, as of December 2013. There is no effective HIV vaccine yet.
