Indiana police officers tased a mixed martial arts fighter when he asked them for ID.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Dave Herman was driving on the highway through Dekalb County, Ind., when he was pulled over for speeding with his lights off.

In video shot by his wife Madeleine, who was in the car with their infant son during the stop, Herman is shown getting out his car and asking the cops for three forms of ID while the cops asked him to turn around and put his arms on his head.

“I’ve never met you.  I don’t know you. Could you please show me your ID?” Herman said.

The cops did not show their badges but drew guns and yelled: “We are the police. Turn around. Turn around or you’ll get tazed.”

Madeleine says in the posted video that Dave “drove three miles with the emergency lights on to stop in a well-lit, public area, in order to ensure his own safety and that of hers and their infant son.”

“Dave stepped out of the car, because he did not want armed strangers to walk up to their vehicles especially with infant son in car,” she added.

Although Herman raised his hands above his head and turned around, the officers still shocked him with 50,000 volts, knocked him to the floor and arrested him, for being “aggressive,” according to the police report.

Madeleine also asked the cops to identify themselves on camera, and they did.

Herman, 30, has been a UFC professional competitor since 2006.

He claims the cops treated him “like a dog and an animal,” in an interview with MMA Junkie.

“They’ve been very disrespectful to my wife and family, as well, and have endangered their lives.”

“I was finally released (Wednesday) afternoon at the latest hour of the day that they possibly could. I was told that it was because they did not like my sense of humor,” Herman said.

The fighter added that the police attempted to take naked photos of him while in custody.

“I sat for five minutes and they tried to take naked pictures of me. They did actually force me to give them some naked pics, which was pretty messed up,” he said.

Dave Herman was charged with the three felonies of “resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, battery against law enforcement and neglect of a dependent.” A pre-trial date has been set for early March.

Police are not specifically required to show three forms of ID, however, they are required by law to identify themselves to members of the public.
