MOSCOW, January 23 (Sputnik) — Thailand's MPs said 'yes' to the impeachment of former Prime Minister Shinawatra, citing her alleged failure to stop a controversial rice subsidy program, the BBC reported on Friday.
Earlier in the day, the Attorney General's office said that Yingluck, who was ousted in May 2014, faces a criminal charge over her role in the same rice scheme, which cost her country at least $19 billion.
If found guilty, Shinawatra could face up to 10 years in prison.
