MOSCOW, January 24 (Sputnik) — One of the world’s leading smartphone developers, Xiaomi Inc, often referred to as the “Chinese Apple”, has recently released a parody ad about how it develops its progressive devices.
The recently-released ad for its latest smartphone, the Mi Note, features Chinese technicians, who are observed taking Apple’s flagship iPhone 6 Plus and converting it into their own phone.
Xiaomi focused on what many see as the iPhone’s chief shortcoming – its protruding rear camera lens. Using a good old-fashioned frying pan, the Chinese simply smashed the rear camera with it, thus magically transforming it into the Mi Note, which now features a 13-megapixel rear camera that’s flush with the rest of the device.
What makes the ad particularly funny is that it parodied other commercials for high-tech products which expound about their precision engineering: the scientists in white coats first tested the frying pan to determine whether it was fit for such a delicate purpose.
Interestingly enough, Xiaomi is not the first to take on this peculiar feature of iPhone 6 Plus. Earlier this year, the group Peripatetic Pandas posted a video with their way of fixing the camera. They chose to do it with a drill press.
