MOSCOW, January 24 (Sputnik) – The suspects, all Spanish citizens of Moroccan origin, were detained in the autonomous city of Ceuta, the Spanish exclave in North Africa, during an anti-terror raid carried out by the police, according to the ministry.
Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz described the suspects as “very radicalized”, adding that the men were well trained both psychologically and physically, as well as skilled in weapons handling. Diaz also said that the detainees had a “strong determination to launch an attack”.
Spain raised the national terror alert level to three, the second-highest level, following a series of terror attacks in Paris in early January, which claimed lives of 17 people.
