MOSCOW, January 24 (Sputnik) —The head of a notorious German serial killer was finally cremated after being kept in storage for almost 90 years, AP reports.
Fritz Haarman, known as the "Butcher of Hannover", was executed in 1925 via beheading with a guillotine. He was found guilty of murdering over twenty young men between 1918 and 1924. The murderer’s head was preserved in formalin and kept for research purposes, the news agency adds.
The medical department of the University of Goettingen told the Goettinger Tageblatt newspaper on Saturday that the killer’s remains were incinerated and buried anonymously last year as it was no longer relevant to science, according to AP.
