US President Barack Obama has arrived at New Delhi’s airport in India for a three-day visit.

Obama to Visit India to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
NEW DELHI, January 25 (Sputnik) – US President Barack Obama arrived in India Sunday on a three-day visit, set to deepen bilateral ties, as well as discuss defense, economic and nuclear cooperation with top Indian officials.

Obama was received by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi’s airport. Obama was accorded a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan presidential residence, where he was met by the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, and expressed gratitude for the "extraordinary hospitality".

All the necessary security arrangements will be put in place in India ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit to the country, the Indian Minister of State for Home Affairs said Monday. - Sputnik International
India to Put in Place All Security Measures Prior to Obama Visit
Obama is expected to visit the Raj Ghat Mahatma Gandhi memorial on Sunday, to plant a sapling.

On Monday, the US leader will attend India's Republic Day celebrations as a chief guest, with his wife, Michelle Obama. It will mark the first time the US president has been invited to the parade.

This is also the first time an incumbent US president has made a second visit to India. The first official trip of Barack Obama to New Delhi took place in November 2010.

Ahead of the current US president’s visit, Indian authorities took unprecedented security measures, with thousands of personnel deployed in India’s capital.

Following a visit to India earlier in January, US Secretary of State John Kerry, stated that the two countries will strengthen their partnership in combating terrorism, deepen their dialogue on key political and security issues, as well as boost sustainable economic development and growth in both countries.
