MOSCOW, January 26 (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will possibly meet with representatives of the Syrian opposition on Wednesday during the inter-Syrian talks in Moscow, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said Monday.
"If there is a constructive spirit and everyone gathers, then, a meeting may take place," Bogdanov told journalists on Monday.
On Monday, inter-Syrian talks, aimed at reviving peace negotiations in the war-torn country, started in the Russian capital. The talks are expected to last four days.
Two previous rounds of Syrian reconciliation talks, held in Geneva in June 2012 and January 2014, attended by representatives of the Syrian government, opposition and international mediators, failed to end the country's ongoing turmoil.
The Syrian civil war erupted in 2011 following an anti-government uprising. It has claimed the lives of some 200,000 people and displaced millions, according to UN estimates.
