MOSCOW, January 26 (Sputnik) — Leader of the radical left-wing Syriza party Alexis Tsipras has been sworn in as new prime minister of Greece, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Monday.
“I swear to always abide by the constitution and laws in the interests of the Greek people,” Tsipras said.
The ceremony was attended by the country’s president Karolos Papoulias and was broadcast on the national television.

The Syriza party won the Sunday parliamentary elections in Greece, having gained 36.34 percent of votes. The party secured 149 seats, two seats short of a parliamentary majority.
Earlier on Monday, Syriza reached an agreement with the right-wing Independent Greeks party to form a government by creating a coalition, with Tsipras expected to announce his cabinet later.
