MOSCOW, January 26 (Sputnik) — Greek Air Force F-16 fighter jet has exploded at Los Llanos Air Base in Spain's Albacete on Monday afternoon, media reports suggest.
The aircraft, which was due to take part in NATO training exercises, crashed to the ground upon takeoff. Ten people have been killed and at least 13 have been injured, the Defense Ministry's spokesperson said, Reuters reports.

The Los Llanos airbase serves as one of the bases for NATO forces’ training, where pilots enhance their skills. The crashed F16 jet also participated in NATO practice flights.
This is the second accident at the Spanish air base in recent months. In July 2014, the pilot of a Spanish fighter-bomber died after the plane exploded after takeoff during joint Spanish-US military exercises.
