“We know that at least two rockets exploded in the north of the country,” the source said.
According to preliminary information, no one has been reported injured and no damage has been noted. Visitors at a ski resort are currently being evacuated.
The Israeli army responded with artillery fire Tuesday to an earlier rocket attack from Syria, the Israeli military said.
“The Israeli Defense Forces responded by artillery fire towards positions from where the rockets were fired,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
"Confirmed 2 rounds struck the Golan Heights, #IDF [Israel Defense Forces] has instructed the evacuation of Mt. Hermon more to follow," Peter Lerner, spokesman and the head of the Foreign Press Branch at IDF, posted on his Twitter page earlier Tuesday.

The situation on Israel's Northern borders intensified on December 18, 2014, when media reports cited sources in Hezbollah stating that an Israeli helicopter fired missiles on a group of militants near the Syrian town of Quneitra on the Golan Heights border. The attack claimed six lives.
Hezbollah pledged that the response to the killing of its fighters would be “fierce” and “destructive.”
