MOSCOW, January 27 (Sputnik) — Twitter has introduced two new features private group messaging and the ability to shoot, edit and post videos through its app.

Twitter says it plans to build "the largest daily audience in the world", so the company wants to get more people to use the service as well as to get the users to engage with it more frequently.

Both features have been extremely popular on other services including Facebook and have been frequently requested by Twitter users.

Earlier, Twitter users had only one way to share video – through Twitter’s standalone video app Vine. Now, just with a few taps, they can upload video up to 30 seconds in length. The Twitter app for iPhone can upload videos directly the camera roll. The feature is coming soon to Android users as well.

"We think by arming all these people with video, we are going to get some really rich and engaging content in the network every day that users are going to love," said Jinen Kamdar, a Twitter product director as quoted by USA Today.

The new group chat feature allows users to start conversations with up to 20 people on Twitter. Users can save, name and rename their groups.

Both features began rolling out on Tuesday and should reach to users in the next couple of weeks.

According to Kamdat, the company has put in great efforts to develop and test the new features.

The company is launching new features in a bid to reassure investors about its growth prospective following a very unstable post-IPO year.

"We feel investor sentiment…remains largely negative," Robert Peck, managing director and Internet equity analyst at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, said in a recent report cited by USA Today.  "The majority of investors we speak with continue to have concerns over the long term story for monetization and growth."

However, some analysts believe that steps the company is currently taking, could be "potential catalysts" for its growth and expansion, Peck added.
