"The governments of Ukraine and China signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation. It allows the receiving of non-repayable aid from the Government of China in the amount of 50 million yuan for the implementation of projects of the Ukrainian side," the ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
The agreement stipulates that Ukrainian projects would be approved by additional intergovernmental agreements. The funds will be allocated to support Ukraine's health care and education as well as to tackle the consequences of emergency situations.
The deal was signed on Tuesday by Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Economic Development Igor Veremiy and China's Ambassador to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun.
The agreement followed a meeting between Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and China's Premier Li Keqiang during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 21.
