MOSCOW, January 28 (Sputnik) — 150 young Arctic explorers from Russia and other members of the Arctic Council are to take part in an international youth forum on February 2-7 in Russia, Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs said Wednesday.
Residents of the EU states, as well as Canada and the United States, are to partake in the forum, despite the anti-Russia sanctions.
"150 young people will participate in the forum – students, graduate students and young scientists from Russia and other countries of the Arctic Council (Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, USA, Finland and Sweden) – whose area of interest lies in the study of the Arctic region," the press release said.
The winners of the forum, chosen after a range of educational and interactive events, will take part in the second round of expedition to the North Pole in April 2015.
It was announced earlier this month that Denmark, Norway and Finland expressed their commitment to continue cooperating with Russia in the Arctic despite the Western sanctions.
