Hezbollah to Tel Aviv: No More Border Violence?
TEL-AVIV, January 29 (Sputnik) – Israeli military says that Hezbollah could have used the Kornet, Russian-made anti-tank missiles, in an attack on Israeli military convoy, the Israeli Army press service told RIA Novosti on Thursday.

On Wednesday Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a missile attack on an Israeli military convoy near Shebaa Farms, in Israeli-occupied Lebanese territories on the Golan Heights, which took lives of two soldiers.

"Apparently, they [Hezbollah] used the Kornet," Arye Shalikar, spokesman for the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told RIA Novosti.

"We have faced an attack not just by one, but actually by six missiles. Six anti-tank missiles. Five of them have hit the army's vehicles, which were actually ordinary cars used by military. Another one hit a residential building in Rajar village," he added.

Ban Ki-moon Regrets Death of UN Peacekeeper in Israel-Hezbollah Violence
Following the attack, IDF and Hezbollah exchanged fire, and Israeli artillery launched at least 25 shells, one of which claimed life of a Spanish UN peacekeeper.

Israel has repeatedly accused Syria of providing Hezbollah with Russian-made missiles, which were used by the group during the 2006 Lebanon War. In 2010 Israeli media claimed that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip also had the Kornets, which they allegedly obtained from Syria.

Hezbollah, established in the 1980s, is a paramilitary and political organization originating in Lebanon's Shiite population. The group aims to end Israel's occupation of Lebanon.
