“There was agreement on the principle of convening future dialogue sessions in Libya, provided that logistical and security conditions are available,” the statement read. “At the same time, they [the participants] emphasized that the talks present a moment of hope and reconciliation for the Libyans, and an opportunity to resolve the country's political and security crisis that should not be missed.”
The participants have also denounced the recent attack outside a hotel in Tripoli, which claimed lives of three people. Following the attack, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stressed that it will not undermine the UN-facilitated Libyan talks, which aim to bring end to the Libyan crisis.
Libya has been in a state of social and political turmoil since the overthrow of long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. Several militia groups have been fighting for power in the country.
