MOSCOW, January 30 (Sputnik) — Law enforcement authorities in Montenegro have detained a Russian national who is suspected of killing the head of North Ossetia's Criminal Investigation Department in 2008, the Montenegrin Interior Affairs Ministry said Friday.
Ivan Bagayev, a member of an organized criminal group, is suspected of killing Vitaly Cheldiev, a senior officer of the North Ossetian Ministry of Interior Affairs, his son and two more people in Vladikavkaz in 2008. The detainee is also charged with illegal possession of arms, ammunition and explosives.
Bagayev was a member of a group, the head of which, Aslan Gagiev was detained on a railroad station in Vienna on January 17, according to the investigating authorities.
The criminal group has committed over 40 murders and infringements on lives of law enforcement officers, the investigators said, including killing of Vladikavkaz Mayor Vitaly Karayev and the Deputy Prime Minister of North Ossetia Kazbek Pagiyev.
