MOSCOW, January 31 (Sputnik) — Russian Telecom and Mass Communications Ministry have suggested legal entities and individuals to consider registration or transfer of their Internet domains to Russian registrar companies, in a statement on Friday.
Russian users have been receiving notifications of possible suspension of the Internet domain names service from foreign registrar companies lately, according to the Ministry.
Several major US companies have already ceased business activities in Crimea because of an order issued by US President Barack Obama on December 19, 2014. The order said that US companies must stop supplying products and services to Crimea by February 1, 2015.
The restrictions specifically targeting Crimea were imposed by Western countries after Crimea's reunification with Russia in March 2014.
