MOSCOW, February 1 (Sputnik) — The UAE Central Bank has commissioned a special one dirham coin ($27 cents) to mark the seventh anniversary of the appointment of Sheikh Hamdan as the Crown Prince of Dubai, the National reported Sunday.
“Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed [crown prince] represents the brighter future of Dubai with high and limitless aspirations and ambitions,” chief executive of the country’s Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre Abdullah Dalmouk was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Dalmouk added that Sheikh Hamdan’s appointment had been overwhelmingly welcomed across the United Arab Emirates.
Sheikh Hamdan, also a poet, is known as a leader who promotes the identity of the Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. In 2013, he established the Heritage Center aimed at promoting national folklore.
The crown prince, aged 32, has also launched several initiatives for young people, such as the Hamdan bin Mohammed e-university inaugurated in 2009, making him popular among the UAE youth.
