MOSCOW, February 2 (Sputnik) – A naked man in Lower Saxony was shot dead by police after attacking officers who were called to his address, reports thelocal.de.
"The initial call was about a man on a rampage," a police spokesperson told the news website, adding that a neighbor had called the police because the man had been throwing furniture out of his apartment window.
The man has not been identified, but is reported to be a 31-year-old originally from the Ivory Coast. NWZonline reports that the man was already known to local police for drug and alcohol offences, and had been treated for mental illness in 2010.
"No evidence of any improper conduct on the part of the officers has been found," said Mathias Kutzner, spokesman for the police department in Oldenburg, adding that the investigation into the incident is set to continue.
